Principal And Teachers
Principal Rory Williamson holds a Cert IV in Dance Teaching & Management (Classical, Jazz) and is a registered BBDS and JazzAddict teacher. She has an extensive performance and teaching history. She has studied under Penelope Lancaster (Director ADV/adap), Sue Altmann, Jenny Andrews, and at QUT.
She has performed with Ballet d'Action and choreographed, directed and danced in many local productions.
She has been instrumental in ammending and contributing to the adap Classical and Jazz courses, and is a workshop tutor and demonstrator. She is also active in mentoring and training new teachers.
Rory Williamson is an adap assessor and the Queensland adap/ADV Representative.
Rory Williamson oversees all operations and management of the dance school, and all enquiries should be directed to her.
Associate Teacher Julie Lightfoot holds a Cert IV in Dance Teaching (Jazz) and is a registered BBDS and Jazzaddict teacher. She has been teaching at the school since 2002. She has performed, assisted and choreographed in many local productions.
Jasmine Sargent has an extensive performing and teaching history.
Trained in New Zealand under Diane Logan & Nadine Antoinette, Jasmine has been active in teaching and competition choreography, preparation and judging/adjudicating.
Jasmine has a solid background in classical, jazz, hip hop, sports aerobics and contemporary dance.
In 2003 Jasmine placed in the top 10 competitors in the National PACANZ New Zealand Young Performer of the Year and competed in the Hip Hop and Sport Aerobics World Championships in Miami, USA.
Jasmine also holds a BA in English Literature and Media.
All Student/Trainee teachers take classes under the supervision of an experienced teacher.
Student/Trainee teachers will only be permitted to take classes unsupervised once they have proven adequate experience, shown lesson plans and reached the appropriate point in their formal training, and only after assessment by the Principal.
All Teachers, Student/Trainee Teachers and volunteers are required to have a Working With Children check and Positive Notice Blue Card, and a First Aid certificate, along with appropriate qualifications, experience and training.
(Senior students acting as Teacher’s Aides for Junior classes are still deemed to be enrolled students, and not teachers or trainee teachers, and are under the supervision of the class teacher).
